Jess and Nate’s Stroudsmoor Country Inn wedding had all the makings of a fairy tale. Set high in the mountains of the Poconos on a crisp and misty autumn day, the ceremony and reception were spectacular.
Stroudsmoor Country Inn offers a variety of ceremony and reception sites tucked away on a 300-acre mountain. Jess and Nate selected Ridgecrest, which provides expansive views of treelines and the valley below. Jess had spent many a family holiday there so it already held a special place in her heart.
I first arrived at the wedding site where Jess was getting ready with her bridesmaids, all in matching robes. Hair and makeup was all done on location by Stroudsmoor. Everyone was excited and relaxed, and the girls enjoyed a glass of champagne together. Jess took a moment to compose herself before reading a sweet note that Nate had written to her, making it most of the way through without tears. Her flowers, also done by Stroudsmoor, included a variety of bright and beautiful colors including deep red anthurium, a flower she fell in love with while travelling. Her dress was a lovely jeweled a-line corset style that went perfectly with the enchanted feel of the venue.
Nate and his groomsmen were getting ready at another location in chateau style quarters, so I drove over to capture some of the preparations. The guys were spirited and Nate seemed very ready to take in the day ahead. He took a moment to open his own letter and present from his soon-to-be wife.
After the groom’s party photos, it was back to Ridgecrest for a few final shots before the ceremony. There was a little light rain and Jess was down to the final moments to make a call for an indoor or outdoor ceremony. She went with her first instinct to have it outdoors, and it turned out to be a wise decision. The rain let up and the mist in the air only added to the magical look and feel of the wedding.
Officiant Susanne Wilson welcomed guests and provided a lovely ceremony, while Weddings by Paris supplied the custom processional and recessional music. Jess and Nate shared sweet vows in front of family and friends under a beautiful iron gazebo with stunning fall foliage surrounding them.
Next we stepped aside for family formals in front of some trees that had just started to change color and then it was time for photos of just the newlyweds. Jess and Nate were easy to work with and seemed so excited to be husband and wife.
Jess and Nate caught up with everyone at the cocktail hour, which was both inside of a lounge and outdoors on a cedar pavilion with a roaring outdoor fireplace. Then it was on to the reception, which was inside of a large, rustic ballroom with wrap-around windows and elegant draping suspended from the ceiling. Bride and groom had their first dance as well as dances with the groom’s mother and bride’s father. Friends and family toasted the couple with sweet and funny memories and well wishes.
A delicious buffet meal was followed by a scrumptious and beautiful cake, both by Stroudsmoor Country Inn. Weddings by Paris turned up the beats and the crowds hit the dance floor for a fun filled evening. Jess had changed into a pretty cocktail length dress and danced the night away with Nate and their friends and family.
As the night slowly came to an end, I took Jess and Nate outside to see if we could capture a few more photos in the dark. We uplit them on the stone path at their ceremony site as Nate dipped Jess for a sweet kiss. These last few photos really captured the romantic mood of the entire day.
It was a pleasure to capture this beautiful wedding and share in the day of this lovely couple.
