Wende and Mike had the sweetest Chester County, Pennsylvania wedding. When I met with Wende and Mike back in the fall, their wedding vision was very clear. They wanted it to be an intimate, no fuss, affair with their closest friends and family. Their wedding day was exactly that. The day began with Wende getting ready in her West Chester home with her mom and sisters. At first, Wende was hesitant about how the pictures would look in her home. She warned me that it was small and dark. I assured her we would make it work. I actually really enjoy working in spaces like this. All it takes is a little window light to make a great photo. I also love the time spent with the bride and the women that are close to her at the beginning of the day. Working in their old home with its charm and quirks allowed for the photos to have more personality than if we had worked in a basic hotel room. I loved all of their details! Kati Mac in West Chester provided all of the amazing flowers for the day. Mike’s suit even had the wedding date sewn into the inside pocket.
The ceremony took place at Marsh Creek State Park. The day started off a bit rainy but completely cleared just before the “I do’s”. Only their closest family and friends were present. The ceremony location was perfect for them. Wende and Mike both love the outdoors. Mike is an avid runner who is constantly hitting the trails. The ceremony was short and sweet with photos to follow.
The reception was what we deemed a “non wedding” wedding reception. Wende changed into a cocktail dress. The setting was a Chester County farm, complete with onlooking sheep. The feeling was all about simple charm. Beer and wine and a large cheese board welcomed their guests. The cake was a “Frozen” themed birthday cake for Wende’s niece, Charlotte. The farm to table menu was served family style with a toast given by Wende’s father.
I loved the simple beauty of this wedding, with a focus on family and fun. I am thankful to have been a part of Wende and Mike’s wonderful day. It has been a great time getting to know these two, from meeting them in West Chester, to their engagement session at Longwood Gardens. I wish them all the best.
